In each issue of An Insight Magazine we want to shine the spotlight on up and coming bands in the world of alternative music.
This time for The Insight we are taking a look at Still.
WITH a blend of dark post-hardcore and emotive post metal sprinkled throughout, Hull heavy hitters Still could be put into a bracket with many other bands.
However, what makes them stand out above the parapet is an emotive urgency to their music.
The four-piece claim bands like Celeste and Pg.99 among their influences and even though they may not be at the forefront, there are certainly elements of these bands which are clear translated to their music.

Still’s latest recorded offering ‘Reprieve’ features elements of black metal in their broadest sense and bring about a much more crushing edge, which sees the band expand on their already heavy hitting sonic palette, which has been established since the band started in 2016.
From this contemporary recipe erupts a textural soundscape that slips between eerie, ambient serenity and punishing darkness.

There are many different elements to their sound, from stoner led riffs to brutal blast beats and atmospheric guitars, bringing it all together in a clever fashion.
And despite the sometimes
obtuse nature of their sound, there is also an element of catchiness to what they produce, which really helps to drive their music.
Still absolutely pour their heart into their bleak, harrowing and emotionally raw music and the results are something that transcends genres.
